be possible to meet energy demands in the not-too-distant future?
With dwindling supplies of fossil fuels, what will be the source
of that energy? Powering Our Future is SRP's comprehensive,
interactive resource for teachers that includes complete lesson
plans, extensive background information, and fun ways to involve
students in their energy future. Leave this experience with
increased knowledge and skills to add "power" to your classroom!
Outcomes and Indicators
By participating in this workshop, you will:
- Understand the potential for renewable energy by
identifying renewable energy sources.
- Recognize the desire for a more sustainable energy
future by comparing non-renewable energy sources and their
implications with renewable energy.
- Identify classroom application of new knowledge by
exploring various approaches for incorporating renewable energy
concepts and big ideas into classroom instruction and by using
technology to enhance renewable energy education.
- Understand the complexity of energy demand vs. energy
supply by examining the energy "grid" for the USA and Arizona.
- Explore diverse career opportunities in the field of
energy by participating in cooperative learning activities.
- Learn how to effectively incorporate Powering Our Future
into your instructional program using research-based practices.
