Important Note: This workshop offers 5.5
instructional hours. ASU Polytechnic students will receive
additional training in the 5E Model of Inquiry in the week
preceding this event.
Compared to students in 29 developed countries around the
world, how do American students rate in their abilities to think
critically to solve problems? Use the 5E Model for Inquiry to
develop your own research question, collect evidence, and evaluate
your team's investigation. (The answer to the initial question, by
the way, is "24th".) Leave this experience with your questions
answered about enhancing student achievement.
Outcomes and Indicators
By participating in this workshop, you will:
- Analyze the importance of a healthy water supply by
examining water samples captured by participants.
- Recognize factors that contribute to a sustainable water
supply by reviewing historical and contemporary data and
comparing it to models and predictions for the next century.
- Identify the wide variety of careers in the field of
water resources by discussing how science, society, and
business/industry intersect.
- Understand the inquiry process by applying the 5E Model
of Inquiry throughout the workshop.
